What Do Syringe Units Measure?

The numbered markings on a syringe help show how much liquid is being drawn into it. On a U-100 syringe, every 10 units represents 0.1 milliliter of liquid.

These markings measure liquid volume only. They do not tell you how many milligrams or micrograms of a substance are in that liquid. That depends on the concentration of the prepared solution.

Units Are Not the Same as a Dose

It is easy to assume that syringe units represent the amount of peptide, but they only describe how much liquid is inside the syringe. The same number of syringe units can contain different amounts depending on how the solution was prepared.

For example, 10 units will always equal 0.1 mL on a U-100 syringe. However, the amount contained within that 0.1 mL will depend on the concentration of the solution.

Confirm the Syringe Type

This converter should only be used with a syringe clearly marked U-100. Not every syringe uses the same scale, and syringe sizes can also have different line spacing.

Before using the converter, look at the syringe packaging and barrel to confirm its type, total capacity and individual markings. Never assume that every line represents one unit.
